Alexander Ostrovsky. Acting & Directing workshop

Ostrovsky is called the Russian Shakespeare and the founder of the Russian theater for a reason. His plays are quite simple to parse, and they raise very acute and ever-pressing problems. His material is quite simple and clear in analysis, as well as fascinating in performing. Based on one of the plays by this author, namely “Easy Money,” the program participants will get acquainted with such an important term as “Event,” learn to define it and exist on the scene in connection with it. During the course, each participant will try on the role of both the director and the actor, which will allow them to see the profession from both sides and draw important conclusions. The main emphasis in training is on reflection and introspection. The group will share experiences and improve together throughout the process.
What we get as the result:
– New work experience with/as a director
– Development/maintenance of your acting apparatus
– The ability to apply the method of event analysis of the play and the scene
– Sketches for show-reel
– Good mood
The duration of the training is 6 hours (3 lessons, 2 hours each). Venue New York, October 2021. The exact dates/times and exact location will be announced later. We are waiting for your applications for participation in the training.
The training is developed and conducted within the non-profit Acting and Directing Laboratory framework in New York. The first workshops are free of charge.
